Irbesartan

Description

Irbesartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) primarily used to manage high blood pressure. It works by relaxing blood vessels, which helps improve blood flow and lowers blood pressure, ultimately reducing the risk of heart-related complications.

Uses / Indications

• Hypertension (high blood pressure)
• Diabetic nephropathy (kidney disease related to diabetes)
• Heart failure (in certain cases)
• Protection against stroke and heart attack in high-risk patients
• Used in conjunction with other antihypertensive medications

Dosage and Administration

Adults:
Typical starting dose is 150 mg once daily. Depending on response, the doctor may adjust the dose to a maximum of 300 mg once daily.

Patients with diabetic nephropathy:
300 mg once daily is often recommended.

Missed Dose / Overdose

Missed a dose?
Take it as soon as you remember. If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one. Do not double up.

Overdose symptoms:

• Fainting
